In obenstehender als Dreizüger erschienenen Aufgabe von B. G. Laws (nachgedruckt in: Andrews, Frankenstein, Laws, Planck: The Chess Problem; London 1887) setzt in a)Weiß am Zug beginnend mit

[2.Se6#] matt: 1.– e:f4 2.Sf3+ Ke4/Kc5/Kd3 3.Dh7/Dc8/Df5(Dh7)#, 1.– Kc5 2.d4+ ~/K:d43.Dc8/Se6#, 1.– Sc5 2.Dd3+ S5:d3/S1:d3 3.Se6/Se2#.  Gerhard Josten fand den b)-Teil, in dem Schwarz am Zug durch 1.– T:d2! [1.– e1D? 2.Sf3+ Ke43.Dg4 +-] 2.Sd5 [2.Dh3 e:f4 3.Se6+ Ke4 4.Sg5+ Kd4 5.Se6+ Ke4 =] e4 3.Dg4 [3.Sf3+ e:f3 4.Dg4+ Kd3 5.Df5+ Kd4 6.Dg4+ =] Sc5 4.Sf3+Kd3 5.Se1+ Kd4 6.Sf3+ Kd3 remis erreicht.

Es werden drei Preise zu 150, 100 und 50 Euro nach Ermessen derPreisrichter ausgesetzt. Preisrichter sind Ralf Krätschmer für denTeil der Mattaufgaben und Gerhard Josten für den Teil der Remis-Studien. Die Ergebnisse beider Richter werden zusammengefasst. Je näher die Einzelbewertungen für das Matt und das Remis beieinander liegen, umso höher erfolgt die Gesamtbewertung einer Komposition, um eine Gleichwertigkeit beider Teile zu honorieren. Gemeinschaftliche Arbeiten sind erwünscht.

Einsendungen sind spätestens bis zum 31. März 2008 per Email(wenn möglich als pgn-Datei) beim Turnierleiter Michael Roxlau(Michael.Roxlau@t-online.de) einzureichen.

Mittlerweile hat Gerhard Josten ein kleines Büchlein Matt & Remis veröffentlicht, welches den Hintergrund der Turnierausschreibung verdeutlichen soll

English summary: On the occasion of the 70th birthday of the endgame composer Gerhard Josten Die Schwalbe announces its 202nd thematic tourney. Required are problems in which a) White to move mates (direct mate) and b) Black to move draws (endgame study).Three prizes are offered with 150, 100 and 50 Euro. Judges are Ralf Krätschmer for the part of theproblem and Gerhard Josten for the part of the endgame study. Both results will be summarised. Thecloser the single results for the problem and the study are lying to each other, the higher the overallranking of the composition will be in order to guarantee the equivalence of both parts. Joint compositions are welcome.
Entries should be sent by email (pgn-file if possible) to the tourney director Michael Roxlau (email see german text) by March 31st, 2008.
